Rare Rubens notebook sheet goes on display in artist’s home city of Antwerp

A rare double-sided notebook sheet attributed to Flemish baroque artist Peter Paul Rubens, created during his early 1600s stay in Rome and featuring an apostle sketch plus a 1607 diplomatic draft letter to painter Cristoforo Roncalli, has been acquired by the King Baudouin Foundation for €110,000 for public display in Rubens' home city of Antwerp. The piece is currently exhibited at the Rubenshuis Museum's Rubens Experience, and will be permanently housed in Rubens' former Antwerp residence once renovations are completed no earlier than 2030.
