Probe over claims royal police officers slept on duty

The Metropolitan Police’s Directorate of Professional Standards has launched an urgent investigation into officers assigned to Royal Family protection duties at Windsor Castle over allegations they fell asleep on duty and left their posts unattended. The Independent Office for Police Conduct has been informed and has determined the matter will be investigated locally by the Met; a decision on whether to place the officers under investigation on restricted duties is expected before the end of next week.
